I have enjoyed numbers since consumer math in high school, the class where math finally clicked and made sense. Every job I worked, I gravitated to the accounting and back office work. I led the property management division of a real estate brokerage and found my groove there. When COVID hit, my large family with young children needed flexibility, so I started my own HOA management company. That is where I saw it clearly: the part I wanted all along was the accounting. So I shifted to bookkeeping for small businesses. It is work that has to be done, and many owners do not know how, do not have the time, or simply do not want to do it. So it gets pushed off until tax time, when it becomes a hair on fire emergency. I take that work off their plate: catch up the books, keep them current, relieve the stress, and have everything ready when tax time comes. For me the work is a puzzle. I can see the finished picture, and we put every piece in place together until it matches. Our Mission DFA provides accounting, payroll, and advisory services to small businesses.
